The "Mimi" behind Mimi's Nice Ice was born in the American Midwest, moved to the Southwest, then headed back to her small hometown to raise her family. It only took her 2 years of desert living, 10 years of traveling the world, and 30 years of living (not necessarily in that order) to realize she had grown up with absolutely astounding, amazing natural wonders in her own backyard.
Having been raised in Door County -- a peninsula in Wisconsin, with the Bay of Green Bay on one side, and Lake Michigan on the other -- Mimi grew up surrounded by a seemingly endless supply of fresh water. In summertime, the water shimmers and shines and entices all kinds of aquatic activities.
Like Jeckyl and Hyde, the winter side of the water is a whole different story. It is cold ... frio, kalt, köld. Did we mention COLD? It was during one especially arctic winter that Mimi's Nice Ice was born.
Partly "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" (work with the ice, my padawan friend) and part "creative presentation is my favorite part of cooking," Mimi realized that commercially produced ice had been available for years -- something we can all make in our own freezers just by running some tap water into a tray -- but no one was offering nice ice ... ice with a little something extra ... a little flavor, a bit of beauty, a touch of imagination.
Mimi's Nice Ice is based on crafting quality results from clean, clear water, and (as often as possible) natural, organic ingredients. Production, packaging -- and everything else about how we do business -- are based on principles like leaving the world a better place than we found it.
We strive to be THE source of edible ice for all occasions.
